The purpose is to teach people – teach them about what the problem is, teach them how Bitcoin solves the problem, teach them how it works, and teach them that their natural first objections are normal/common but invalid (and why).
Bitcoin is an enormous topic and leads one down many different rabbit holes. This is the beginning. I am hopeful those that read this and find Bitcoin fascinating, will continue to learn from other resources and may return to this again in the future with a new perspective.
Resistance Money examines bitcoin’s monetary policy, censorship-resistance, privacy, inclusion, and energy use to develop a comprehensive and measured case that bitcoin is a net benefit to the world, despite its imperfections. Bitcoin isn’t just for criminals, speculators, or wealthy Silicon Valley entrepreneurs – despite what the headlines say. It is, instead, a tool for anyone on the margins. The book is rigorous but accessible; Resistance Money is intended for all, from the clueless to the specialist, from the proponent to the die-hard skeptic, and everyone in between.
Do you think you know something about Bitcoin and Austrian Economics? If so you may be ready for Cryptoeconomics. This is not a work for the uninitiated. The content is dense – it does not repeat itself. It is not a contribution to the echo chamber, will not show you how to set up a wallet, the future price, or what to do.
Cryptoeconomics applies rational economic principles to Bitcoin, demonstrating flaws and unnecessary complexities in them, and in common understandings of Bitcoin. It will improve your understanding of both. Bitcoin requires a new, rigorous, and comprehensive discipline. This is it.
This book covers Bitcoin’s blocksize war, which was waged from August 2015 to November 2017. On the surface the battle was about the amount of data allowed in each Bitcoin block, however it exposed much deeper issues, such as who controls Bitcoin’s protocol rules. It is not possible to cover every twist and turn in the labyrinthine conflict or all the arguments, but I have provided a chronology of the most significant events. This book explores some of the major characters in the conflict and includes coverage, from both the front lines and behind the scenes, during some of the most acute phases of the struggle. In 100 little comics, The Little HODLer tells stories of the past, present, and future of money – in pictures instead of complex diagrams, and with a friendly face rather than big words. The Little HODLer is on a journey to find the best form of money – one he can use freely at any time (even on weekends!), one that nobody can take away from him, and one that can’t be printed in trillions. And you bet once he finds it, he’s going to HODL it really tight!

Every historical example or non-example provided in this book serves as a lesson for us to either choose to learn from or ignore. (Get it on Amazon).
Hilbay’s book is a blueprint for a different kind of future, where the world operates on one digital currency standard, beyond the control of any one country or alliance of countries, where the most valuable and technologically advanced money is something that will be accessible to anyone: a refugee or a billionaire, equally. Where foreign lenders and dictators cannot simply ‘devalue’ a local currency to crack the whip on local workers, or where an empire cannot force their currency to be the only one that energy producers accept. If everyone is on the same footing, Hilbay explains, then the world gets a whole lot more equal. (Get it on Amazon).

In this fascinating deep dive into the evolution of monetary systems around the globe, Nik Bhatia takes us into the origins of how money has evolved to function in a "layered" manner. Using gold as an example of this term, he traces the layers of this ancient currency from raw mined material, to gold coins, and finally to bank-issued gold certificates. In a groundbreaking manner, Bhatia offers a similar paradigm for the evolution of digital currencies. Bhatia's analysis begins in Renaissance Florence with the gold Florin coin and a burgeoning banking culture, continues with the evolution of central banking, and concludes with a vision for the future of our international monetary system. We know what it’s like when you first hear about Bitcoin and you think it’s some kind of fad. Then when you go searching online, all you get are people hyping the crap out of it, it sounds like a scam or a ponzi or it’s way too technical to get your head around and you’ll dismiss it.

Nevertheless, the implications of this phenomenon and its philosophical underpinnings remain elusive and hard to grasp.

Allen Farrington and Sacha Meyers chart a crash course through the errors of modern economic theory and the world's broken fiat currency system with a hopeful destination: Bitcoin Is Venice. What if a global, digital, sound, open-source, programmable currency was monetizing from absolute zero? What might economies look like under a Bitcoin standard that pushes beyond Hernando de Soto’s abstraction of “capital” as "economic potential energy?" What might this new form of capital do to our current governing bodies? Can Bitcoin bring about a new global Renaissance? With Farrington and Meyers, the discussion is as revolutionary as the answers.
In this piece we discuss our concerns aroundt he broader “crypto” space beyond Bitcoin. Our arguments revolve around three primary themes: Philosophical, Technical, and Economic. From a philosophical perspective, we discuss the core properties that make Bitcoin work and that make it unique, in our view. From a technical perspective, we evaluate how these properties are lacking to a greater or lessere xtent in alternative “cryptoassets,” having been designed out again on questionable philosophical justifications. From an economic perspective, we walk through our concerns that “crypto” has not shown a path to establishing a basis for justifiable real-world value, explain why we believe this would be very difficultt o ever accomplish, and suggest therefore that their technical flaws are especially vulnerable. Given the complexity of the task we have set ourselves, this piece is intended to bring our arguments into long form and provide a discussion base for good faith disagreement.
